Ikorodu Division Hall Of Fame: Rep. Babajimi Benson Takes His Place Among Ikorodu Giants

Rep. Babajimi Benson, hanging his own frame on the wall of the Ikorodu Division Hall of Fame gallery during his visit in Friday.

The representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, on Friday, hung his own frame with a brief profile on the wall of the Ikorodu Division Hall of Fame situated within the Ikorodu Ultra – Modern Town Hall, Ikorodu.

Benson, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Defense, was among the 17 eminent individuals, who have made their marks and impacted on Ikorodu Division and humanity in general, that were inducted by the Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) into the prestigious Hall of Fame,which one Thursday, November 23, 2026, but was unavoidably absent.

The three term lawmaker was represented at the induction ceremony by the Director – General of iCare Foundation and Chief Advisor, Mayor Muhydeen Sanwoola.

However on Friday, he paid a visit to the gallery with a high powered entourage, to hang his frame, a duty which was performed by other inductees on the day of their induction.

With the induction of the Class of 2023, the Ikorodu Division Hall of Fame has 83 inductees so far.

Speaking after hanging his frame, Rep. Benson, who was highly elated to be counted among the great Ikorodu sons and daughters of lkorodu, commended the Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) for initiating and preserving the Hall of Fame.

He described the Hall of Fame as an historical place where younger and the coming generations can visit to learn.

“I thank Sen. Kingsley Adeseye Ogunlewe and members of the Group, for deeming me worthy of being among the giants. Coming here today and seeing the pictures of illustrious people of Ikorodu (Division) who have covered many fields, being hung here gives me lots of nostalgia”, Rep. Benson.

“It a historical place. It is a place where students, pupils and even myself can learn from. It is a learning place. Here, you will see giants that exist among men. People who are giants internationally, locally, and in Nigeria, in various fields – medical, education, politics, fashion, even the picture of the richest woman in Africa is hung here.

“I can see Adewunmi Ogunsanya, Seye Ogunlewe and many people. It is indeed a great honour to be placed among them.

“So, I will like to thank the Senator again and the Group, for deeming me worthy and for preserving this place. On behalf of myself and my family, I am going to donate an amount that I will silently whisper to the IDRDG Chairman.

“I thank everybody for turning up and for making this day a very memorable for me. It is indeed a great thing for me and I will not forget it in hurry”, he said proudly.

While pledging his support to the preservation of the Hall of Fame, Rep. Benson also charged young Ikorodu sons and daughters to strive to be counted among great men a d women.

“I will also do my best to ensure that this place is well kept; developed and revamped, because it is a place that should be preserved and take care of, for the children and coming generations also ”, he assured.

“This means that the world is watching; the state is watching and lkorodu is watching every step and little thing you do, and they being documented and how best can such be shown than for your face or legacy being hung here?

“So, we should always endeavor to leave for a legacy for people to talk about. I think that every young person in Ikorodu, should striive to ensure that his or her frame is hung here and if that happens, the world and our community will continue to be a better place”, he said.

The Chairman, IDRDG, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, was on ground to welcome the lawmaker and eminent personalities that accompanied him among whom were: Chief Imam Seifudeen Ayinla Ademoritan Olowo-Oribi, Grand Chief Imam of Ikorodu Division; Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos State; Alhaji Musliu De Cubano Animashaun, APC chieftain; Otunba Amid Adekunle Oduborisha, President, Oriwu Club, Hon.
