Several years after its establishment by the Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG), the Alogba Library at the Ikorodu Ultra – Modern Town Hall, Olubi/Owolowo Street, Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, is set to be upgraded to an e – library facility.
The library is the only functional public library in the entire Ikorodu Division as at today.
The Chairman of Alogba Library Committee, and former Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, revealed the development to THE IMPACT on Saturday.
He disclosed that Otunba (Dr) Benjamen Eniayewun, the Permanent Secretary, Health Service Commission, who is also a member of the Library committee, has pledged to undertake the full upgrading of the library to an e- library, which, according to him, would commence soon.
Prince Ogunleye, who said that the committee is set to assist the IDRDG in achieving its primary objectives of development of human resources in the Division, also added that the committee will be implementing other initiatives with far reaching impacts in the coming days.
He assured the users of the library of a more conducive environment, adding that plans are in top gear to make the facility academically friendly.
Meanwhile, the upgrading of the library has commenced with the provision of an internet facility and free Computer Based Training (CBT) for JAMB students. The upgrading is sponsored by the Ikorodu Ultra – Modern town Hall Management Board under the leadership of Sen. (Otunba) Dr. Adeseye Ogunlewe.
Since the installation of about 10 computer systems with internet facilities last week, the Alogba library has been recording a surge in the number of students coming around for CBT training.
